Frequently Asked Questions - Liquid Syntans

Find answers to common questions about liquid syntans

Liquid syntans are synthetic tanning agents in liquid form used for retanning chrome-tanned leather. They include acrylic retanning agents, protein-based fillers, and neutralizing syntans that improve leather properties such as fullness, softness, grain tightness, and light fastness.
We offer various liquid syntans including VENTAN RE (acrylic retanning agent), VENTAN RT (acidic acrylic retanning agent), VENTAN MA (maleic-acrylic copolymer), VENTAN RPF (protein-based filling agent), VENTAN VEF (protein-based filler), and VENTAN LNS (neutralizing syntan).
Liquid syntans provide excellent filling properties, improve grain tightness and fullness, enhance softness and handle, offer good light fastness for white and pastel leathers, facilitate level dyeing, improve buffing properties, and are compatible with other syntans and vegetable extracts.
Liquid syntans are used in retanning operations for upper leathers, upholstery leathers, nappa leathers, corrected grain leathers, and suede leathers. They are applied after neutralization and before or during dyeing and fatliquoring processes to achieve desired leather properties.
